Since I was child, I like to look up to the sky and observe the changing formation of clouds. I like to look at mountains and wonder how they got their shapes. I like to look at the sea if the waves are high or the surface is calm. I like to observe and write about it.

When I was in sixth grade, a small plane flew too close to our school. I shouted, “Look! He’s flying too close!” A classmate said, “Kaignorante pud nimo oi!” and laughed away. A lot of kids were near us and heard everything and laughed too. I was just trying to point out something that was not ordinary.

I learned a lesson that day. It’s not good to share your observations. You’d be called a moron if you do.

When I was in high school, science and history fascinated me. These areas of learning made me create a world of my own. I spent my breaks in the library reading world history, geography, geology, astronomy, etc. I still remember that embarrassing moment.

When I was in college, I had more time to read.

When Bohol was struck with a M 7.2 earthquake, I don’t read geo anymore, but I still remember that embarrassing moment.

Now I learn a new lesson. I should not be embarrass to learn more or to share what I learn. God gave me a brain to be able to learn so I can equip myself with proper knowledge and share it with others.

It takes a post from a beautiful person to learn my mistake. Thank you, Monalisa Smile. Reading and learning about the earth, the clouds, the seas, and the world’s history will resume as soon as I post this. Oh, and after I vote today.

leo buscaglia

The Leo of my life. Not a lover, no. He was an angel sent at the right time in a moving way.

Leo Buscaglia was a teacher of Love— literally, figuratively. His book about a compilation of his speeches, lectures, etc. accidentally fell on my head while I was looking for some documents. I didn’t know we have that book. During that time, my life was at the most troubling and challenging state. I read his book entitled Living, Loving and Learning. All emotions that I held back for years burst out in a single night. I learn to forgive and understand, to calm down and become a lover. Most of all, I learn to love myself the right way so I can love others better. He helped me become the me I wanted to be. I cannot thank God enough for sending such person enclosed in a book to turn to my life around. Please visit his website for more information.

The poem below is my favorite. Hope you will like it, too.

A Start

by Leo Buscaglia

Each day, I promise myself not to try to solve all my life problems at once —
nor shall I expect you to do so;

Starting each day, I shall try to learn something new about me and about you and about
the world I live in, so that I may continue to experience all things as if they had been
newly born;

Starting each day, I shall remember to communicate my joy as well as my despair, so that we can know each other better;

Starting each day, I shall remind myself to really listen to you and to try to hear your point of view and to discover the least-threatening way of giving you mine, remembering that we are both growing and changing in a hundred different ways;

Starting each day, I shall remind myself that I am a human being and not demand perfection of you until I am perfect, so you’re safe;

Starting each day, I shall try to be more aware of the beautiful things in our world — I’ll look at the flowers, I’ll look at the birds, I’ll look at the children, I’ll feel the cool breezes, I’ll eat good food — and I’ll share these things with you;

Starting each day, I shall remind myself to reach out and touch you, gently, with my words, my eyes and with my fingers, because I don’t want to miss feeling you;

Starting each day, I shall dedicate myself again to the process of being a lover —
and then see what happens;

You know, I’m really convinced that if you were to define love, the only word big enough to engulf it all would be “Life” — LOVE IS LIFE — in all its aspects …
And if you miss love, you miss life !

Please don’t !
